Baptism

Baptism

At Our Savior Lutheran Church, our goal is to guide the people of our congregation as they walk toward God. Baptism is the first major step on that journey, and one of the most powerful tools we have as we make our way through the world with Him in our hearts.

After baptism, we set forth on a lifelong journey in dedication to our relationship with God, our congregation, our community, and the world around us. Growth with these priorities in mind is part of living our baptismal covenant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Church membership required for baptism at Our Savior?

Yes. At Our Savior, we believe that when a child is baptized, that child becomes a part of the community of God. Church membership allows your family to journey together in Faith as a unit, alongside a community that is dedicated to the success and nurturing of your connection with God.

Does baptism have an age requirement?

No. The ELCA and our Church states that baptism is for all ages. We believe that the best time to receive the gift of God’s love is as soon as you are ready to accept it.

Does Our Savior rebaptize members?

No. We follow the guideline that, “A person is baptized once. Because of the unfailing nature of God’s promise, and because of God’s once-for-all action in Christ, Baptism is not repeated.”

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. (Romans 6:3-5)

We’re growing in Christ, together, and we’d love for you to be a part of that.

At Our Savior, we welcome anyone looking for a relationship with Christ, no matter where you’ve been on your journey.

As a congregation, we look forward to gathering, growing, and going out into the world to spread God’s message. We hope you’ll join us!
